Appearance: The Shiraz has a deep, vibrant ruby color with hints of purple around the edges.

Nose: On the nose, this Shiraz offers a lovely aroma of ripe dark fruits such as blackberry, blueberry, and plum, with a subtle hint of black pepper and a touch of vanilla from the oak barrel aging.

Palate: The palate is dry, but the wine has a fruity profile with a soft texture due to the low tannins. The flavors of dark fruits such as blackberry and plum are still present, but there are also hints of red fruits such as raspberry and cherry, giving it a touch of sweetness. The acidity is well-balanced and refreshing, keeping the wine from feeling too heavy on the tongue.

Finish: The finish is smooth and lingering, leaving a pleasant taste of dark fruits and a subtle hint of spice.

Overall: This cool-climate Shiraz is an excellent representation of a dry but fruity wine with low tannins. It offers a soft texture with a refreshing acidity, making it an easy-drinking wine. The dark fruit flavors are well-balanced with a touch of sweetness and a subtle hint of spice, making it a versatile wine that will pair well with a range of dishes. It's perfect for those who prefer a lighter, fruitier style of Shiraz.

The terroir of the Otways Hinterland is defined by its unique combination of climate, geology, and topography, which all contribute to the region's distinctive character.

The Otways Hinterland benefits from a cool and temperate climate, with high rainfall and mild temperatures throughout the year. This climate creates ideal conditions for the growth of lush rainforest, dense eucalyptus forests, and verdant farmland.

The region's geology is also a defining factor in its terroir. The soil is predominantly rich, fertile volcanic loam, which is ideal for growing a wide variety of crops, including fruits, vegetables, and wine grapes.

The rugged topography of the Otways Hinterland adds further complexity to its terroir. Rolling hills, deep valleys, and winding rivers all shape the landscape, creating unique microclimates that contribute to the diversity of the region's flora and fauna.

These factors all come together to create a terroir that is rich and diverse, with a range of flavors and aromas that are unique to the region. The Otways Hinterland is known for producing a variety of high-quality produce, including wine, cheese, and artisanal goods, all of which reflect the region's distinctive terroir.
